Hello,

We have a project coming up where the client wants recessed spotlights retro fitted into an existing painted plasterboard ceiling.  I have a  question:

When do the ceiling lights have to be fire rated??

Thanks

Edward

Hi Edward,

We leave the decision on fire rating to the qualified and competent person working on the site based on the details of the property or project. There are many factors that determine if fire rating is needed. It essentially it is there to give the occupants more time to escape a fire as it slows the spread of the fire between the floors.

If in doubt, then we recommend you order the fire rated version for peace of mind.

Regards,

Sam.
